Super night at 88 Keys
Lounge with 8 y Mas!
The founders of 8 y Mas - Marc, Bobby, Ricky and Angel
-are music veterans who earned their stripes at the
Corso and its contemporaries, where the repertoire did
not consist only of Salsa at 180 bpm’s. You had to play
Son Montunos, Cha-cha’s, Descargas as well as acid Salsa
in order to leave the club feeling that you held your
own against the band that followed or preceded you.
Generally, at the Corso, you had two to four slammin’
bands every night.
The individuals mentioned above
have remained viable in Salsa – just check out the credits
on many recordings of the last 3 decades – as well as
in other genres (The Allman Bros., David Byrne, Paul
Simon, Spyro Gyra, Jeniffer Lopez, Marc Anthony). But
their roots go back to the Corso.
8 y Mas’ debut CD, Juega Billar, is a manifestation
of these roots. Along with Ruben Rodriguez, Frankie
Vazquez, Raul Agraz and Ozzie Melendez, the group brings
with it a rich history that represents the quintessential
New York Latino.
We shared with other members
from Swing Sabroso. Also from Marc Anthony's band Erben
Perez, Mario Guini, Curtis Rodriguez among others.
And our friend from
TheNightLifeSpot.com Thanks Curtis Van Dross for
your support
Happy Birthday Arturo from PuertoRicans.Com!
