The Passion of Jesus

With the mega-movie “The Passion” by Mel Gibson, humanity has
the opportunity to once more live the historical moments of a man who
with his passion and love impacted and transformed humanity.Who is Jesus?
Where lies the root of his passion? Why is mankind overtaken by his
livelihood? Why is the world in awe of his legacy?
He was a young yet mature man with a divine certainty of the
things he expected and a profound sense of purpose and vision in life.
Jesus lived experiences that developed a supernatural passion and
character and an unseen ability to transmit his vision to twelve men who
left their every day lives to learn and follow his footsteps.
Why did his disciples leave everything to follow him? Without a
doubt, he was a man of exceptional qualities. How was his up-bringing
and childhood? Why does he disappear from his parents to speak to
theologians and scholars at the age of twelve? These are just a few of
the questions that come to mind about Jesus. Having a blessed mother and
a father who believed the Holy Spirit was part of the process. How was
his character formed? What situations must have given him the strength
and courage to face a civil and religious society in disorder and
disarray?
History, archeology and science confirms the life of a man
named Jesus. For the Jews, he was the son of the carpenter but for the
Christians, he is the son of God, El Shaddai, the Saviour and the
Messiah. This is Holy Week and the world celebrates, his life, death and
resurrection. His passion for the multitudes went and goes reasonable
doubt and his compassion for the sick and downtrodden has no natural
understanding.
In the most difficult moments of his life, Jesus dictated
through example how to elevate character to supernatural levels. While
his people made fun of him, he kept quiet. While they tortured him, he
forgave and as they killed him, he loved. Until the last breath of human
air, Jesus loved and cared for all.
The twelve disciples with their faults and virtues are like all
of us, but it was not until Jesus left their presence that they began to
understand His passion. When he was finally betrayed by one of them,
Jesus kissed him and called him friend. Who is Jesus? He was present
when man was created; he listened carefully when man disobeyed. He also
observed His creation in route to self-destruction but decided to come
forth to save it from annhiliation. He is Jesus, the same one who walks
by your side, cares for you and always greets you with a smile. He is
the one who sees you complete as a human being even though you may have
been rejected. This is Jesus, the one who wants to be your friend to
share His life and passion with you today, tomorrow and forever.

La Pasión de Jesus

Con el advenimiento de la Semana Mayor y la mega-película “The
Passion” de Mel Gibson, tenemos la oportunidad de una vez mas revivir
los acontecimientos históricos de un hombre que con su pasión impactó la
humanidad. ¿Quien es Jesus? De dónde emana su pasión por la humanidad?
¿Porque la humanidad se detiene al escuchar Su nombre?
Era un hombre joven pero maduro, vertical y de una firme certeza en las
cosas que esperaba y una profunda convicción en las cosas que no veía y
podemos afirmar que las experiencias vividas en su vida fueron
desarrollando una pasión de una estatura sobrenatural. Su capacidad
inigualable para transmitir esa pasión y su liderazgo innato para
discipular a doce hombres son hechos que todavía hoy influencian al
mundo.
¿Por qué sus discípulos dejaron todo para seguirle? Sin lugar a
dudas, ellos vieron en El a una persona con cualidades excepcionales. ¿Cómo
fue su niñez? ¿Por qué desaperace de la escena déspues de dialogar con
los doctos de la ley a los doce años? Son algunas de las inquietudes que
muchos tienen sobre Jesus, el hijo de Dios. Él haber tenido una madre
bendita entre todas las mujeres y un padre que le creyó al Espíritu
Santo fue fundamental para aquel que luego se convirtió en padre y
maestro de doce hombres que dejaron todo para estar a su lado. ¿Cómo se
formó su carácter? ¿Que situaciones pudieron haber ocurrido para que
tuviera el valor y la sabiduría para enfrentar a una sociedad civil y
religiosa en desorden?
La historia, la arqueología y las ciencias confirman la vida de un
hombre llamado Jesús. Para los judíos es el hijo de un carpintero pero
para los hijos de Dios, es el Salvador, El Mesías y El Shaddai. En estas
semanas se celebra su vida, muerte y resurrección. Su pasión por las
multitudes y amor por los desamparados fueron muestra de un corazón
sensible y compasivo.
En los momentos más cruciales de su vida como ser humano, Jesús
dio cátedras de cómo elevar su carácter a un nivel sobrenatural.
Mientras la multitud se burlaba de el, callaba. Mientras le mataban,
amaba, mientras lo torturaban, perdonaba. En una ocasión, Jesús dijo, “aprended
de mí que soy manso y humilde”. Aunque él era así, lo cierto es que Él
aprendió a ser así. Su sacrificio y entrega raya en lo humanamente
inverosímil y se comprende en el plano estrictamente espiritual. Un amor
sin cálculos y sin medida.
Esos doce hombres con sus defectos y virtudes son como todos
nosotros. Sin embargo, no fue hasta que Jesús sale de su presencia que
ellos comenzaron a entender la pasión de Jesus. Cuando finalmente fue
entregado por uno de sus discípulos, Jesús le da un beso y le llama
amigo.
¿Quien es Jesus? El estuvo presente cuando se creó el hombre y
escuchó de cerca cuando este fue desobediente. Tambien observó a su
creación encaminarse hacia la auto-destrucción pero decidió venir en pos
de ella para darle salvación. Ese mismo que camina a tu lado y te
acaricia y el que siempre te saluda con una sonrisa. Es el que te ve
realizado aunque te hallan rechazado. Ese es Jesus, el que desea ser tu
amigo para compartir su vida contigo.
